Everything you need to know about hiring a photographer for your event!
Have you ever gotten home from an important family, community or friend event - and mentally beat yourself up a little for not taking the photos with your friend Alex, or your great Aunt Sue? We're often so caught up in the moment that we forget to capture the memories (Which is the whole point! We WANT to be caught up in the moment living them.) And this is why you should hire a photographer.
A Birthday Party, Family Reunion, Baby Shower, etc: These are events that more than likely, hiring a photographer is the last thing we're thinking about. I mean, come on - everyone has a camera built into their phones these days, right? But, here's the thing about taking pictures with our phones. When we grab our cell phone, it's because we're intentionally getting people together in posed shots and saying "quick, let's take a picture!" This does 2 things: 1) Coming back to the word "posed". When we're posing each other for pictures, they look exactly that. Sometimes, we may be able to see the emotion on Grandma's face or on your best friend's face at her baby shower. But, it's not the true emotion in the moment the same way a candid photo is. 2) If you're taking a picture on your cell phone..You're not in it! And if you are, it's a selfie. Speaking from experience as a first time mom, we all want photos to print and cherish..that aren't selfies.
This picture here is my favourite example of why candids are so important. This picture speaks to me and tells me a story of girlhood. Three friends, two embraced in a hug, while the third fixes Mary's corsage.
When hiring a photographer for your event, you get to live in the moment. Make your memories, eat the tasty treats, laugh and catch up with people you cherish, and even share quiet intimate moments. Like this one, after delivering a gorgeous and heartfelt speech dedicated to her Nan, they shared this quiet moment filled with admiration. While you're enjoying living in your truth, your moment, I'm off on the sidelines sneakily capturing and freezing the interaction.
The love is timeless, now the memories can be too.
Consider hiring a photographer for your personal event. The value is undeniable.
